Job summary

PruittHealth Augusta seeks an Activities Assistant to plan, implement, and evaluate recreational, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual programs in alignment with patient care plans.

You will assess residents, coordinate with families and staff, schedule activities across mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends, and post monthly calendars. Experience in healthcare settings and two years of college coursework are required.

Qualifications

• Requires minimum two (2) years college education with courses in recreation, education, social work, other behavioral sciences or clinical services.
• Two (2) years’ experience in a social or recreational program within the past five years, with one year full-time employment in a patient/resident activities program in a health care setting.

Responsibilities

• Conducts assessments and gathers information by interviewing residents, family members, legal representatives and significant others to develop individualized recreation programs.
• Updates resident Recreations programs as needed to accommodate individual needs and preferences and to protect and promote residents’ rights.
• Works cooperatively with interdisciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate plan of care; attends care conferences and develops activity interventions as part of the comprehensive plan of care.
• Schedules recreational activities to accommodate residents hours and ensure participation.
• Provides activities to residents confined to their rooms reflecting life-long interests and in-room projects.
• Provides structured activities to meet needs of cognitively impaired residents and adapts activities for participation.
• Develops and implements procedures to inform residents of activities and coordinate transportation.
• Records progress notes in the clinical record and audits chart entries for completeness and accuracy.
• Performs quality assessment and assurance functions and identifies staff performance issues.
• Develops and updates Recreation Services policies and procedures.
• Communicates with Nursing Home Administrator on staffing, budgeting and compliance.

Education

Two years college education with courses in recreation, education, social work, other behavioral sciences or clinical services
