Job summary

PruittHealth in Macon, GA is seeking a dedicated Recreation Services Specialist to plan, implement, and evaluate activities that meet residents' social, intellectual and emotional needs. Qualifications

• Requires minimum two years college education with courses in recreation, education, social work, other behavioral sciences or clinical services.
• Two years' experience in a social or recreational program within the past five years, with one year full-time employment in a patient/resident activities program in a health care setting.

Responsibilities

• Develops individualized recreation programs by interviewing residents and families to match needs and interests.
• Updates Recreation programs to reflect residents' rights and preferences.
• Works with interdisciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate care plans and interventions.
• Schedules activities across mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays; posts monthly activity calendars.
• Provides activities to residents in rooms reflecting lifelong interests and independent activities.
• Delivers structured activities for cognitively impaired residents and adapts tasks to enable participation.
• Ensures residents are informed of activities and that transportation is provided as needed.
• Records progress notes in the clinical record and audits chart entries for completeness and accuracy.
• Participates in quality assessment and assurance rounds and coordinates corrective actions as needed.
• Develops and updates Recreation Services policies aligned with facility philosophy, standards and regulations.
• Collaborates with Nursing Home Administrator on staffing, budget planning and resource needs.
• Assists in department budgeting and provides financial information as required.
