Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a cook in a skilled nursing care facility or other medical facility.
• ServSafe certificate preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation practices, and dietary guidelines.
• Ability to follow recipes, measure ingredients accurately, and execute cooking techniques with precision and consistency.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with residents, staff, and visitors.
• Commitment to providing high-quality dining experiences and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and cook meals according to menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines.
• Coordinate meal preparation schedules to ensure timely delivery of meals to residents.
• Monitor inventory levels and place orders to maintain stock and minimize waste.
• Follow standardized recipes and portion control for dietary restrictions and therapeutic needs.
• Ensure food is cooked, stored, and served at safe temperatures.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas in line with health regulations.
• Assist with menu planning and recipe development, incorporating resident feedback.
• Collaborate with dietary staff to coordinate meal service and address resident concerns.
• Adhere to facility policies including infection control and safety protocols.
