Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a Cook to prepare meals per approved menus, considering residents' dietary needs. In absence of the Dining Services Director, you will supervise dietary staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Responsibilities include menu preparation, maintaining cleanliness, reporting issues, recording temperatures, and assisting in training while upholding safety and confidentiality for residents.

Qualifications

• Must have 3 years experience in dining services.
• Must be Serv-Safe certified, or willing to complete within 60 days.
• Basic understanding of food service operations including related duties.
• Ability to read, write, and perform simple calculations.
• Ability to learn quickly and apply learned principles.
• Able to follow oral and written directions.
• Experience in food preparation, cooking and estimating quantities.
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety in handling food/equipment.
• Able to stand long periods, endure temperature extremes, and lift 50 lbs.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present menu items according to standard recipes.
• Maintain a clean, orderly work area at all times.
• Participate in weekly cleaning routines planned by Dining Services Director.
• Report faulty equipment and replace chipped items from service.
• Record temperatures and monitor refrigerator/freezer temps twice daily.
• Ensure leftovers are cooled, stored, identified and dated.
• Observe safety practices and control portion sizes to reduce waste.
• Supervise dietary staff in absence of directors; assist in training.
• Attend required in-services and staff meetings.
