Job summary

Southwestern Veterans Center seeks a compassionate Therapeutic Activities Aide to inspire and engage residents in activities that support physical, cognitive, and social well-being. You will lead sessions, assist with outings, and foster a safe, supportive environment for veterans.

The role requires coordinating with volunteers, escorting residents to events, and maintaining activity supplies while ensuring safety and compliance with program goals.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience as an Aide Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
• Six months of work experience providing care to individuals requiring assistance with daily activities
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Lead recreational and educational activities that help residents build skills and confidence
• Provide direction to volunteers and teach safe practices during programs
• Escort residents to activities, assist with transfers, and ensure safety during outings
• Maintain activity supplies, prepare materials, and complete housekeeping tasks in activity areas
• Observe resident actions, document participation, and report incidents or safety concerns
• Attend trainings, take part in meetings, and support facility improvement efforts
