Summary of Job Duties:

The Research Technician provides support for research projects within the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Responsibilities include laboratory tasks such as cleaning, sterilization, media preparation, equipment maintenance, molecular biology techniques, and data entry. The position requires 100% effort towards research projects.

Qualifications:

High School diploma plus two years of research laboratory experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Willingness to work with viruses and mammalian cell culture.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and reagent preparation.
  • Preferable experience in sterile culturing techniques.
  • Ability to keep organized records.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to move and clean laboratory equipment.
  • Lift up to 20 lbs, and perform bending, standing, sitting, and repetitive movements.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or biochemistry.
  • Experience with cell culture and DNA cloning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Additional Information:
  • Perform laboratory stocks preparation and maintenance.
  • Order and restock laboratory supplies, maintain inventories.
  • Ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Assist with experiments and train new personnel.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary Information:

Commensurate with education and experience.
