Job summary

Arizona State University is seeking a Facilities Assistant 1 Non-Exempt to support facility inspection, maintenance, and repairs across ASU campuses. The role emphasizes safe handling of lab materials, inventory control, and collaboration with multiple ASU departments.

The position is based at Tempe campus with travel to other campuses as needed. Applicants should have a High School Diploma or equivalent, strong safety awareness, and the ability to operate material handling equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Ability to follow safety practices in lab and facilities environments.
• Willingness to learn and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Handle shipping and receiving of dangerous goods, chemicals, biologicals, gases and CDC controlled Select Agent program.
• Inspect deliveries for recipient name, damages, and keep goods in controlled setting; manage inventory.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment; drive transport carts or university vehicles as needed.
• Travel across campus to other research buildings as required and interface with multiple ASU departments and vendors.
• Effective communication with team and stakeholders and adherence to safety protocols.
