Job summary

Arizona State University is seeking a Facilities Assistant 1 Non-Exempt to support waste management and recycling operations across ASU campuses. You will perform daily recycling route collections, assist with disposal of waste, and help maintain yards and vehicles under limited supervision.

The role requires lifting up to 70 pounds, outdoor work in a desert climate, and basic MS Office skills. You will interact with students, staff and faculty to deliver excellent service and ensure timely

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in waste collection and facilities maintenance is preferred.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to stay organized and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Complete daily waste and recycling routes and special requests.
Assist in implementing waste and recycling programs on all ASU campuses.
Provide exceptional customer service when interacting with students, staff and faculty.
Drive, load, and unload 15-foot stake-bed and cargo vans.
Properly sort materials into correct bins.
Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies.
Operate solid waste compactors and other hydraulic machines.
Work outdoors lifting, standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
Use work order systems (TMA) in response to maintenance requests.
Communicate to perform the essential functions of the job.
