Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking an experienced California workers’ compensations defense attorney for a fully remote role. You will manage a defense caseload from intake to resolution, representing employers and carriers before the WCAB.

The position requires handling depositions, hearings, and discovery while advising clients on strategy and settlements. Strong written and verbal communication is essential, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage a California workers’ compensation defense caseload from intake through resolution.
• Represent employers, carriers, and other clients before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board.
• Handle depositions, hearings, conferences, and other WCAB appearances.
• Prepare discovery, legal correspondence, case evaluations, reports, and litigation strategy recommendations.
• Negotiate settlements and work toward efficient, practical case resolutions.
• Communicate directly with clients regarding case developments, strategy, exposure, and next steps.
• Independently manage deadlines, calendars, files, and ongoing litigation responsibilities.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff on complex matters and professional development.

• Work fully remotely from anywhere in California
• Take ownership of your own caseload while receiving support from experienced senior attorneys and staff

Location: Fully remote throughout California. Work from anywhere in the state while representing California employers and carriers in workers’ compensation matters.

Note: Active California Bar membership is required. Candidates must have strong written communication skills, be organized and responsive, and be comfortable independently managing files, deadlines, client communication, depositions, and WCAB appearances. California workers’ compensation defense experience is strongly preferred, but we are open to training motivated attorneys who are ready to build expertise in this area.
