Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking a California-licensed attorney to join our remote workers' compensation defense team. This position offers ownership of a California caseload and direct client exposure while working fully remotely from anywhere in the state.

You will manage from intake to resolution, represent employers and carriers before the WCAB, and collaborate with senior attorneys and staff to sharpen litigation skills.

Qualifications

  • Active California Bar license required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage files, deadlines, and client relationships.
  • Comfortable handling depositions and WCAB appearances.
  • California workers' compensation defense experience preferred; training available for motivated attorneys.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a California workers' compensation defense caseload from intake through resolution.
  • Represent employers, carriers, and clients before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board.
  • Handle depositions, hearings, conferences, and WCAB appearances.
  • Prepare discovery, legal correspondence, case evaluations, reports, and strategy recommendations.
  • Negotiate settlements and seek efficient case resolutions.
  • Communicate with clients about developments, strategy, exposure, and next steps.
  • Independently manage deadlines, calendars, files, and ongoing litigation responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff on complex matters and professional development.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year

Location: Fully remote throughout California. Work from anywhere in the state while representing California employers and carriers in workers' compensation matters.

Note: Active California Bar membership is required. Candidates must have strong written communication skills, be organized and responsive, and be comfortable independently managing files, deadlines, client communication, depositions, and WCAB appearances. California workers' compensation defense experience is strongly preferred, but we are open to training motivated attorneys who are ready to build expertise in this area.
