Job summary

NIIC National Interstate Insurance Company is seeking a California Workers’ Comp Claims Adjuster to join our team. The role offers a hybrid arrangement from Richfield, OH (4 days/week in the office) or fully remote from the United States if not local to the office.

Required is a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, or related field, plus at least 6 months of property and casualty claims handling experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, or related field.
• 6 months minimum experience in property and casualty claims handling.
• SIP certification preferred; professional designation such as AIC is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage an inventory of claims to evaluate compensability and liability.
• Conduct claim investigations to confirm coverage and determine liability and damages.
• Negotiate settlements and reserves within assigned authority; may attend arbitrations or depositions.
• Communicate coverage and settlement information to insureds, claimants, and external partners.
• Authorize payments within authority limits and ensure timely processing.
• Maintain accurate claim files with all correspondence and settlement documents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
