Job summary

Samsara is seeking a seasoned Workday specialist to own Absence configuration and related HR modules for a US-based remote role. You will partner with HR, Payroll and IT to deploy streamlined processes and robust Workday solutions in a fast-growing company.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in global settings, strong Workday expertise, and comfort with Agile methods. You will influence Leave policies, reporting, and integrations while supporting broader HCM needs as priorities evolve.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in fast-growing, global companies; 2+ years in Workday Absence configuration.
• Experience in Workday business process configuration, security, and organization configuration.
• Experience in Workday HCM, Benefits, and Core HCM modules in US and international locations.
• Experience writing and completing test scenarios for system implementations and enhancements.
• Experience supporting project planning, requirements gathering, testing, and launch.
• Strong understanding of leave and absence management processes, including accrual calculations and compliance.
• Ability to collaborate with Workday Studio developers and integrations.
• Familiar with Agile methodologies and prioritization.
• Willingness to flex into other Workday modules as priorities shift.
• Experience with Workday Absence, Payroll, Time Tracking, Core HCM.
• Previous leave administration or payroll processing experience.
• Knowledge of employment compliance and best practices (FMLA, state laws).
• Experience with Jira, Zendesk and Workday integrations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Absence Management Workday configuration with required eligibility rules, accruals, and case management.
• Collaborate with HR, Payroll and internal teams to align Workday with organizational goals.
• Review proposed system changes to identify process improvements.
• Build and modify custom reports for standard optimization.
• Triage and configure Workday enhancements across HCM, Benefits, Timekeeping, Payroll and reporting.
• Build and maintain organizational hierarchies, custom objects, and security roles.
• Document business requirements with People Operations for programs executed in Workday and other tech.
• Scope and prioritize incoming technology fixes and enhancements.
• Model Samsara’s cultural principles in scale initiatives.
