Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to lead large-scale VMware-to-AWS migrations, build cloud infrastructure, and automate deployment processes in a remote role.

The candidate will assess on-premises VMware environments, plan migrations, and collaborate with security, network, and application teams to minimize downtime. Experience with MGN, Terraform, CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python, and VMware PowerCLI is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years supporting VMware infrastructure environments.
• 3+ years designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions.
• Proven experience leading VMware-to-AWS migration projects.
• Strong understanding of cloud migration methodologies and best practices.
• Experience with AWS MGN and migration tooling (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Hands-on with AWS networking, security, identity management, and compute services.
• Scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, and VMware PowerCLI.
• IaC experience with Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess existing VMware vSphere environments and dependencies.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute migrations of VMs/workloads to AWS.
• Design and deploy AWS infrastructure components (VPC, EC2, IAM, SGs, S3, CloudWatch).
• Develop migration runbooks, validation plans, and cutover procedures.
• Automate migration and deployment using Terraform, CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python, and PowerCLI.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and ensure stability.
• Maintain governance, documentation, and risk registers.
