Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to lead large-scale migrations from on-prem VMware to AWS. You will assess, plan, and execute migration waves, build AWS environments, and automate deployment processes to minimize disruption.

The ideal candidate has proven VMware-to-AWS experience, strong scripting skills, and familiarity with IaC tools like Terraform and CloudFormation, with a focus on secure, scalable cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years supporting VMware infrastructure environments.
• 3+ years designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions.
• Proven VMware-to-AWS migration project experience.
• Strong knowledge of migration methodologies and IaC tools.

Responsibilities

• Assess VMware vSphere environments and dependencies.
• Plan and execute migrations to AWS using MGN.
• Design AWS infrastructure components (VPC, EC2, S3, IAM, etc.).
• Automate deployment with Terraform, CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python.
• Coordinate with infra, app, network, and security teams.
• Perform cutovers and post-migration stabilization.
• Develop migration runbooks, validation and rollback plans.
• Maintain governance, runbooks, and documentation.
