Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to lead large-scale migrations from on-premises VMware to AWS. You will assess environments, plan migration waves, deploy AWS infrastructure, and automate with IaC and scripting tools. Remote role with a focus on stabilization and post-migration support.

The role requires deep VMware expertise and strong AWS skills, including MGNs, networking, security, and governance, to deliver scalable, reliable cloud migrations for clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field is required.
• 5+ years supporting VMware infrastructure environments.
• 3+ years designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions.
• Proven experience leading VMware-to-AWS migration projects.
• Strong understanding of cloud migration methodologies and best practices.
• Experience with AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) and migration tooling.
• Hands-on with AWS networking, security, identity management, and compute services.
• Strong scripting/automation in PowerShell, Python, and VMware PowerCLI.
• IaC experience with Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess VMware vSphere environments and dependencies.
• Plan and execute migrations from on-premises to AWS.
• Design and deploy AWS infrastructure components (VPC, EC2, IAM, security groups, etc.).
• Automate migration, provisioning, and deployment using Terraform, CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python, and PowerCLI.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime.
• Validate migrations with functional, performance, and DR testing; support stabilization.
