Job summary

Cognizant seeks an experienced AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to lead large-scale VMware-to-AWS migrations. You will assess on-prem VMware environments, plan waves, and execute migrations using MGN, while automating deployment with Terraform, CloudFormation, PowerShell, and Python.

You will design AWS infrastructure, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure post-migration stabilization with robust validation and governance. Remote work is allowed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years supporting VMware infrastructure environments.
• 3+ years designing AWS cloud solutions and migrations.
• Proven VMware-to-AWS migration experience and MGN usage.
• Strong scripting with PowerShell, Python, and VMware PowerCLI.
• Experience with IaC tools Terraform and CloudFormation.

Responsibilities

• Assess VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi, vCenter, clusters, networking and storage.
• Plan and execute migrations of VMware VMs/workloads to AWS.
• Implement AWS MGN and related migration tooling; run pilot migrations.
• Develop migration runbooks, rollback procedures, and validation plans.
• Collaborate across infra, app, DB, network, and security teams.
• Perform cutovers and post-migration stabilization with minimal downtime.
• Design AWS infrastructure components (VPC, EC2, IAM, SGs, S3, CloudWatch).
• Automate provisioning with Terraform, CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python, and PowerCLI.
• Validate migrations via functional/performance/testing and DR checks.
