Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to lead large-scale migrations from on-prem VMware environments to AWS. The role emphasizes planning, automation, and post-migration stabilization with a strong focus on VMware and AWS tooling.

This is a remote role and requires US work authorization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute migrations, build scalable AWS environments, and optimize performance and costs while ensuring governance and documentation

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering or related field.
5+ years of experience supporting VMware infrastructure environments.
3+ years designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions.
Proven VMware-to-AWS migration project experience.
Experience using AWS Application Migration Service (MGN).

Responsibilities

Assess VMware vSphere environments and dependencies.
Plan, coordinate, and execute migrations to AWS.
Design and deploy AWS components (VPC, EC2, IAM, S3, etc.).
Automate migration and deployment using Terraform, CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python, and PowerCLI.
Validate migrations with functional, performance, connectivity, and DR tests.
Maintain runbooks, SOPs, and governance artifacts.
