Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to lead large-scale migrations from on-premises VMware to AWS. You will assess, plan, and execute migrations, design AWS infrastructure, automate deployment, and ensure successful post-migration stabilization.

The ideal candidate has hands-on VMware and AWS migration experience, strong scripting/ IaC skills, and can work in a remote US-based role. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/IT/Engineering.
• 5+ years supporting VMware infrastructure environments.
• 3+ years designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions.
• Proven experience leading VMware-to-AWS migrations.
• Strong understanding of cloud migration methodologies and best practices.
• Experience with AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) and migration tooling.

Responsibilities

• Assess VMware vSphere environments and plan migration waves.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute VMware-to-AWS migrations.
• Design and deploy AWS infrastructure components (VPC, EC2, IAM, SGs, Route53, S3, CloudWatch, Systems Manager).
• Develop automation with Terraform, CloudFormation, Python, PowerShell, and VMware PowerCLI.
• Validate migrations with functional, performance, and DR testing; stabilize post-migration.
