Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to lead large-scale migrations from on-premises VMware to AWS. The role is remote for candidates authorized to work in the United States.

You will plan, execute migrations, automate deployment with Terraform, CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python, and VMware PowerCLI, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and ensure smooth transition.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience supporting VMware infrastructure environments.
• 3+ years designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions.
• Proven experience leading VMware-to-AWS migration projects.
• Strong knowledge of cloud migration methodologies and best practices.
• Experience with AWS MGN and migration tooling.
• Hands-on with AWS networking, security, IAM, and compute services.
• Strong scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, and VMware PowerCLI.
• Experience with Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.

Responsibilities

• Assess VMware vSphere environments and dependencies.
• Plan and execute migrations of VMware VMs to AWS; support migration factory.
• Design, build, and configure AWS infrastructure components (VPC, EC2, S3, IAM, SGs, Route Tables, ELB).
• Automate migration, provisioning, and deployment using Terraform, CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python, and PowerCLI.
• Coordinate with infra, app, database, network and security teams; perform cutovers.
• Validate migrations with functional, performance, and DR testing; hand off to operations.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
