Great American Insurance Group's Specialty Human Services Division seeks an Underwriting Specialist to underwrite new and renewal business across a Southeast territory, with a fully remote work model. The role emphasizes risk analysis, collaboration with actuaries, agents, and clients, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Applicants should have 5+ years in underwriting, a related bachelor’s degree, and preferably professional designations such as AU, CPCU, CIC, INS, or ARM.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of underwriting experience or related field.
• Professional designations (AU, CPCU, CIC, INS, ARM) preferred.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal business per guidelines and risk appetite.
• Analyze risk data to inform coverage, pricing and terms.
• Collaborate with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients for required information.
• Order and review reports (MVRs, loss history, inspections).
• Document underwriting decisions and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Evaluate renewals and modifications of existing policies.
• Communicate decisions clearly to internal teams and partners.
• Stay updated on industry trends and market conditions.
• Develop relationships to generate and retain profitable business.
• Explain and market products and services.
