Job summary

Great American Insurance Group's Specialty Human Services Division is seeking an Underwriting Specialist to join its remote Southeast team, with a preference for candidates in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Texas, or the Chicagoland area.

You will evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business, analyze risk data, and collaborate with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain necessary information and finalize terms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related field is required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business in line with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
• Analyze risk data to inform coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Collaborate with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain necessary information and clarify details.
• Review reports and screens (e.g., motor vehicle reports, loss history) to inform decisions.
• Maintain proper documentation of underwriting decisions and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Evaluate existing policies for renewal or modification.
• Communicate underwriting decisions clearly to internal teams, agents, and brokers.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions.
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers and coworkers to generate new business and retain profitability.
