Job summary

SCI Summit Consulting, LLC seeks a seasoned underwriter to assess and bind new and renewal business in a regional market. You will analyze risk data, collaborate with actuaries and agents, and ensure accurate documentation while staying compliant with state and federal regulations.

The role offers flexibility to work from the Gainesville, GA office or remotely within the Southeast region, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Generally, a minimum of 5 years of experience in Underwriting or a related field. Completion of or continuing progress toward a professional designation preferred, such as AU, CPCU, CIC, INS, or ARM.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and underwrites new and renewal business in accordance with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
• Analyzes risk data to inform coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Collaborates with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain necessary information and clarify details.
• Orders and reviews reports and screens to inform decisions (e.g., motor vehicle reports, loss history, outside inspections).
• Ensures documentation of underwriting decisions and compliance with regulations.
• Evaluates existing policies for renewal or modification.
• Communicates underwriting decisions clearly to internal teams, agents, and brokers.
• Stays updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions.
• Develops and maintains relationships with customers and coworkers to generate and retain profitable business.
• Interprets, explains, and markets products and services.
• Position requires occasional travel.
• The hire will work out of Gainesville, GA or remotely from GA, IL, TN, IN, SC, KY, NC.
