At E Source, we’re seeking a Transmission System Planning Consultant to help utilities navigate a changing energy landscape. You’ll join the Grid Engineering and Interconnection team and lead transmission planning studies, engaging with clients to define goals and deliverables.

The role emphasizes leadership of engineers and analysts, developing study reports, and supporting business development while managing multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in engineering or related field from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience in electric utility operations, planning, or consulting.
• Understanding of transmission system planning processes and electric transmission systems.
• Familiarity with power system planning and operations; NERC, FERC, and regional requirements; production costing; risk assessment techniques.
• Strong competency in industry software including PSS/E.
• Experience developing study reports that document study assumptions and findings.
• Knowledge of NERC and FERC standards.
• Knowledge of ISO/RTOs such as MISO, ERCOT, PJM, SPP, CAISO, WECC, NYISO, ISO-NE.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsabilités

• Perform transmission planning studies, including transient stability, power flow, transfer capability, reliability, short-circuit, economic dispatch, and electromagnetic analyses.
• Engage directly with clients to determine study goals, create project methodologies, and define deliverables.
• Direct portions of project execution, including analysis and engineering, staffing plan development, deliverables, quality management, and schedule.
• Lead a team of consultants and engineers to meet study objectives and deliver practical, viable results.
• Develop study reports that document assumptions, methodology, and findings.
• Partner with project managers to direct the technical execution of projects.
• Manage and support on-the-job training efforts for less practiced team members.
• Support project managers in business development pursuits.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently, identifying critical path items to ensure deliverable deadlines are met.
