Job summary

1898 & Co. is seeking experienced Transmission Planning Consultants to support a nationwide consulting practice.

You will analyze grid performance, evaluate regulatory requirements, and deliver data-driven solutions for generation retirements, renewables integration, and congestion management. The role involves performing studies with PSS/E/PSLF/PSCAD and presenting findings to clients, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating across practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in transmission planning, power system analysis, or electric utility consulting.
• Ability to lead, educate, and train a team of consultants and analysts.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with on-site work capability.
• Knowledge of NERC, FERC, and ISO/RTO requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform transmission planning studies (power flow, stability, short circuit, etc.).
• Execute studies using industry-standard tools and prepare client-ready reports.
• Assess compliance with regulatory requirements and lifecycle costs.
• Develop client presentations and engineering reviews.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior staff.
