Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Transmission Planning Engineer (PSCAD Specialist) to join our ESSP team. The role is based in Denver, CO, with consideration for Fort Worth, TX, and other US locations, including remote options.

You will work with a team of transmission planners to deliver projects, develop reliable energy infrastructure, and support clients in meeting their goals. The position emphasizes EMT studies, PSCAD model development, and collaboration with engineers and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Engineer in Training Certification is required.
• 7 to 10 years of transmission planning experience including EMT studies.
• PSCAD experience with complex controls interactions and FACTS modeling.
• Experience developing and tuning PSCAD models for resources.

Responsibilities

• Perform EMT work for network studies and microgrid modeling.
• Develop generation, load, and asset models based on designs.
• Tune and validate control parameters for performance targets.
• Develop controls for plant controllers, grid-forming resources, and FACTS devices.
• Prepare study reports with assumptions, findings, and recommendations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support transmission planning teams.
• Assist in business development activities and client meetings.
