Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Technical Writer / Content Developer to produce tutorials, how-to guides, and release documentation for the internal Healthcare Platform knowledge site. You will translate engineering material into clear, task-oriented guidance and collaborate with platform engineering teams to keep content accurate through product changes.

The role supports telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. and requires proficiency with Markdown, Git, and developer-focused documentation.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of technical writing experience in software/cloud/platform engineering environments.
• 2-4+ years collaborating with engineering, product managers, and SMEs in Agile/matrixed settings.
• 2+ years using Markdown, reStructuredText, or other lightweight markup languages.
• 2+ years of Git/GitHub workflows, including PR reviews and CI/CD processes.
• 2+ years producing technical diagrams and system documentation with tools like Mermaid, Figma, draw.io, or Visio.
• 2+ years with structured authoring, metadata tagging, and reusable content frameworks.
• 1-3+ years creating developer-focused documentation reading code snippets, API specs, and CLI/tool references.

Responsibilities

• Writes tutorials, how-to guides, release docs, and troubleshooting content.
• Collaborates with engineering to ensure technical accuracy.
• Maintains docs in response to product updates and customer feedback.
• Creates diagrams, samples, and supporting materials.
