Job summary

Katmai is seeking a senior web-architecture leader to support the Decennial Budget Integration Tool (DBiT) for the U.S. Census Bureau.

You will plan scalable, high-performance web system structures, select frameworks, cloud services, and APIs, and enforce coding guidelines with code reviews and testing frameworks. You will guide modernization, CI/CD and reporting practices, translate requirements into technical specs, and collaborate with product, design, and QA teams to deliver aligned,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent in a related field evidenced by the minimum qualifications.
• Twelve plus years of software development experience across frontend and backend technologies.
• Experience guiding web projects from start to finish and resolving major blockers under pressure.
• Familiarity with modern web frameworks and government CI/CD environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide application architecture and technical direction for DBiT support services.
• Plan scalable, high-performance web system structures and select frameworks, cloud services, and APIs.
• Enforce coding guidelines, conduct code reviews, and set up testing frameworks.
• Oversee modernization activities, CI/CD, integration practices, and security audits.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and QA to align development with business objectives.
• Train and guide junior/mid-level developers through pair programming and feedback.
• Maintain documentation in Confluence and ensure traceability to Jira work items.
• Monitor SLA, capacity, incidents, and health metrics using enterprise monitoring tools.
