Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Technical Control Engineer to ensure reliable operation of automated systems at client sites. You will balance proactive monitoring with rapid incident ownership, leading major outages and coordinating software, controls, and hardware teams.

The role supports shift-based schedules (night and weekend) and requires collaboration with R&D, Implementation, and Customer Operations to move sites from Hypercare to steady-state support. Strong automation experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, automation, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in technical support, controls, or engineering.
• Experience in automation, robotics, or warehouse environments preferred.
• Strong TCP/IP networking and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with Linux shells and scripting; SQL scripting knowledge.
• Familiarity with Allen Bradley ControlLogix and ladder logic.
• Remote system support experience (Remote Desktop, SSH).
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, collaboration, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced remote support for electro-mechanical, software, networking, and controls issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across automation and robotics.
• Lead major incidents as focal technical escalation during outages.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to restore service efficiently.
• Monitor system performance, logs, and trends to anticipate failures.
• Drive root cause analysis (RCA) for critical incidents and preventative actions.
• Create and improve knowledge base content for shift-left resolution.
• Support system maintenance, including data backups and I/O checks.
• Stay current with supported software/hardware updates for Symbotic systems.
