Niche is seeking a Tech Lead Manager to own the technical direction and people leadership for the student-facing team in our two-sided marketplace. You will stay hands-on, drive performance, and partner with Product to accelerate delivery and learning across the team.

You will mentor engineers, shape team culture, and model AI-assisted development while ensuring high-quality software and healthy team dynamics in a remote-friendly, US-based setting.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software engineering experience with coding and reviews.
• Experience owning both technical direction and people management.
• Comfort operating without a separate Tech Lead to lean on.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tooling and workflows.
• Track record of pragmatic technical trade-offs under delivery pressure.
• Experience with or openness to agile/Scrum team processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the student‑facing engineering team and drive reliability.
• Own team process, cadence, and collaboration with Product.
• Stay hands-on with the codebase and tackle inbound technical work.
• Model and promote AI-assisted development practices within the team.
