Job summary

Pie Insurance, a leading provider of commercial insurance for small businesses, is seeking a Team Lead, Collections. You will own end-to-end collections, drive bad debt recovery, manage vendor and offshore partners, and set SLAs across the lifecycle.

You will ensure compliance with FDCPA and related laws while guiding a high-performance team. The role emphasizes strategic leadership, process improvements, and collaboration with Legal, Compliance, Product, and Accounting to optimize outcomes.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• 3+ years of team leadership or people management experience, including managing performance.
• 1+ year of Premium Audit experience preferred.
• Experience in commercial insurance preferred.
• 2+ years of vendor management experience required.
• 1+ year of experience managing BPO or offshore teams preferred.
• 1+ year of experience with data analysis; understanding workers' comp operational practices required; knowledge of Pie's products and systems.

Responsibilities

• Own recovery outcomes across every policy in collections and drive bad debt improvements.
• Set and enforce SLAs across the full collection lifecycle and KPIs for vendors and partners.
• Own the collection assignment process and vendor preference lists; manage interim and final invoices.
• Prioritize collection efforts on high balances to reduce exposure.
• Ensure all communications comply with FDCPA, Regulation F, TCPA, and state laws; coordinate with Compliance/Legal.
• Serve as the top contact for collection issues and escalations; advocate for Pie's interests.
• Partner with Product/Engineering to build systems that automate collections and KPI reporting.
• Drive improvements in bad debt allowance processes with Accounting involvement.
• Coordinate dispute resolution and upstream process improvements; ensure timely closeout of receivables.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure trackability and data availability for KPI reporting.
