Job summary

Speechify is hiring a Team Lead for Android to own core product work and guide the team’s processes while staying hands-on. You’ll code, review, and own features end-to-end, aligning with design and QA to deliver reliable releases.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in software engineering, deep Kotlin experience, and a track record shipping background audio features. This is a remote position with a competitive US salary and equity options.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on.
• Rock solid Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work.
• Understanding of tests and how to approach writing them.

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end, working closely with our design team — from the decision through to release.
• Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features.
• Review pull requests and give constructive feedback.
• Unblock the team when progress stalls and ensure the team uses the best version.
• Ensure shared components are stable, well-documented, and reusable.
