Job summary

Speechify is seeking a hands-on Android Team Lead to own core product work from design through release. You’ll write code, review code, and own features while guiding the team on best practices and reliability. You’ll unblock blockers, drive decisions, and ensure high-quality, well-tested releases.

Strong leadership and Kotlin expertise are essential. The role is remote in the United States, with a focus on delivering features that scale our text-to-speech apps across platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on leadership.
• Strong Kotlin, Coroutines, Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Android
• Experience shipping and maintaining long-running background work.
• Commitment to tests and building reliable features.
• Proven impact delivering features used by teammates.
• Ability to guide teams while coding and reviewing.

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end with design and release ownership.
• Maintain reliability metrics for key features.
• Review pull requests with constructive feedback.
• Unblock the team when blockers occur and drive decisions.
• Drive changes so the team uses the best version of shared components.
• Ensure code and tests are clear, maintainable, and well-documented.
• Lead planning to focus on decisions, not ambiguity.
• Coordinate with Product, Design, and Engineering early.
