Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Team Lead for our Android app to own core product work and elevate how the team collaborates. This hands-on role involves coding, reviews, and delivering features end-to-end, with a focus on reliability, planning, and releasing nightly builds for QA.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in software engineering, strong Kotlin and Android experience, and a track record of shipping features used by teams. This is a remote, globally distributed role and compensation is competitive.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with team leadership or owning a major surface while hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin and Android development, including architecture and testing.
• Experience shipping background audio or long-running background work is a plus.
• Ability to design and implement reliable, testable features with CI/CD.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across Product, Design, and Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end from design through release.
• Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
• Review code and provide constructive feedback.
• Unblock the team when blockers appear and drive decision making.
• Guide the team in reducing manual interventions and ensuring stable releases.
