Job summary

Crux is seeking an Associate, Tax/Preferred Equity to join its Structuring team. You’ll screen, underwrite and structure tax equity and preferred equity transactions for renewable energy projects, working closely with senior members to move opportunities from intake to closing.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in renewables or structured finance, strong financial modeling and Excel skills, plus experience with tax equity structures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or related field; MBA/MS a plus.
• Minimum 2+ years in renewable energy, structured finance, infra investing or investment banking.
• Exposure to tax equity, project finance, or other structured renewables transactions.
• Strong financial modeling and structuring skills with core valuation concepts.
• Strong Excel skills; VBA or Python a plus, with due diligence experience.

Responsibilities

• Screening and underwriting new opportunities, including pre-pricing and financial modeling for tax/hybrid transactions.
• Prepare investment materials for Investment Committee with economics, sensitivities and risk analyses.
• Collaborate with senior Structuring staff to drive transactions from intake to closing.
• Analyze sponsor financials, contracts, and diligence to identify risks and value drivers.
• Leverage AI tools to improve accuracy in modeling, diligence and reporting.
• Standardize models, IC memos and term sheets across the team.
• Support external interactions with developers, investors and advisors under supervision.
• Assist portfolio management and reporting, monitoring underwriting performance.
• Support platform initiatives to scale tax equity workflows and new tech-enabled products.
