Job summary

AvatarFleet LLC is seeking a Systems & Security Engineer to own security administration, Linux systems, and cloud infrastructure in a fully remote environment. You will work with the CTO and software engineers to maintain uptime, security controls, and reliable deployments.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of hands-on Linux systems administration with security and availability in production environments.
• Strong AWS administration skills, EC2 and Linux-hosted applications, across ECS, IAM, networking, load balancing, storage, WAF, and monitoring.
• Experience with SOC 2 Type II audits and maintaining controls throughout the audit period, including evidence collection.
• Hands-on vulnerability management, Linux patching, security hardening, log analysis, and incident response.
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible, AWS CLI, shell scripting, Docker, and Docker Compose.
• Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and troubleshooting deployment failures.
• Clear written communication and disciplined documentation.
• PostgreSQL and Redis administration, backup and recovery, and performance troubleshooting.
• Python scripting, GitHub workflows, and familiarity with Flask, JavaScript, Vue, Jira, and Sentry.
• Fully remote work, collaboration with CTO and a small team, and ability to handle audit deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain AWS infrastructure (EC2, ECS, WAF, ALB, S3, EFS) and Linux servers.
• Monitor, patch, and harden production environments; ensure backups and reliability.
• Coordinate SOC 2 Type II control evidence and annual audit prep with CTO and control owners.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and secure deployment processes with Terraform, Ansible, and scripts.
• Troubleshoot across Linux, AWS, containers, networks, and storage; maintain documentation.
