Job summary

AvatarFleet LLC is seeking a Systems & Security Engineer to own security administration, Linux systems, and AWS infrastructure in a fully remote role. The candidate will partner with the CTO and software team to ensure production reliability, secure configurations, and audit readiness.

You will manage SOC 2 Type II controls, incident response, and automation using Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD tooling, while keeping customers protected and compliant.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of hands-on Linux systems administration with responsibility for security and availability in production environments.
• Strong AWS administration skills, especially EC2 and Linux-hosted applications, with experience across ECS, IAM, networking, load balancing, storage, WAF, and monitoring.
• Practical experience supporting SOC 2 Type II audits, including evidence collection, access reviews, and remediation tracking.
• Hands-on vulnerability management, Linux patching, security hardening, log analysis, and incident response.
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible, AWS CLI, shell scripting, Docker, and Docker Compose.
• Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and deployment troubleshooting in collaboration with software engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day security administration and infrastructure operations, working with the CTO and software team.
• Administer Debian and Amazon Linux hosts, services, and storage with production apps on EC2.
• Configure and maintain AWS resources (EC2, ECS, WAF, ALB, S3, EFS, IAM) and networking components.
• Maintain monitoring, backups, incident response, and reliability for production environments.
• Partner with engineers to diagnose infrastructure and runtime issues affecting development and production.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, patching, and recurring tasks using Terraform, Ansible, and scripting.
• Ensure SOC 2 Type II control execution, evidence collection, and annual audit preparation.
