Job summary

AvatarFleet LLC is seeking a Systems & Security Engineer to own security administration and infrastructure operations. You will work with the CTO and engineering to manage vulnerability remediation, SOC 2 Type II compliance, and production reliability on AWS-based Linux hosts.

Responsibilities include patching, access control, backups, monitoring, and collaborating on CI/CD and automation to keep our SaaS secure and auditable for customers.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Linux systems administration in production environments.
• Strong AWS administration skills across EC2, Linux-hosted apps, IAM, networking, load balancing, storage, monitoring.
• Experience supporting SOC 2 Type II audits and maintaining controls throughout audit periods.
• Vulnerability management, Linux patching, security hardening, log analysis, and incident response.
• Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, AWS CLI, shell scripting, and container tech.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day security administration and SOC 2 Type II control execution with CTO and control owners.
• Maintain a year-round control calendar for reviews, evidence, remediation, and audit requests.
• Maintain security policies and operating procedures; identify gaps and drive corrective action.
• Administer access controls and support reviews, least privilege, credential management, and security logging.
• Run and review vulnerability assessments; prioritize findings by severity and business impact.
• Patch Linux hosts, application dependencies, containers, and related software in partnership with engineering.
• Plan maintenance, validate changes, and document mitigations when patches are not practical.
• Deploy, configure, and maintain AWS resources (EC2, ECS, WAF, ALB, S3, EFS, IAM) and networking components.
• Maintain secure configurations, capacity, connectivity, and monitoring across environments.
• Manage backups, replication, retention, and restore testing; improve performance and cost efficiency.
• Administer Debian and Amazon Linux hosts; troubleshoot across OS, runtimes, containers, network, storage.
• Support Docker, Docker Compose, and ECS workloads; keep configs consistent and documented.
• Maintain monitoring, logging, alerting; investigate incidents and coordinate with engineering.
• Assist CI/CD configuration, environments, and secure pipeline access; support deployments.
• Use Terraform, Ansible, AWS CLI, and scripting to automate tasks; maintain runbooks and documentation.
