Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Substation Protection & Control Designer in a remote role to support the Substation Engineering & Design team across the U.S.

You will develop substation design packages, create protection & control drawings, and contribute to a broad range of projects from small upgrades to large transmission work. The role requires proficiency with AutoCAD/MicroStation, knowledge of NEC/NESC/IEEE standards, and the ability to collaborate with remote teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; level based on candidate experience (Designer I/II/Senior).
• Drafting and detailing experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is required.
• Proficiency with NESC, IEEE, and other relevant codes and standards.
• Ability to create and modify drawings from markups with high attention to detail.
• Ability to organize multiple complex tasks and meet deadlines; collaborate in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Utilize NEC, NESC, NEMA, ANSI, IEEE guidelines to complete engineering designs.
• Provide technical support for clients and assist regional business development as a technical resource.
• Work in a project team with engineers, designers, and drafters for substation projects.
• Mentor designers and support teams to ensure project success.
• Prepare proposals and project estimates; develop substation drawings with input from engineers and other drawings.
• Perform quality reviews and peer checks; train and mentor less-experienced design members.
• Work with Project Management to develop project plans and provide updates.
