Job summary

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking two Substation Drafters for remote work focusing on Physical or Protection & Controls drafting. You will help develop substation design packages for clients across the United States, handling projects from small upgrades to large transmission scopes.

The role requires CAD software experience, ability to work in a remote team, and strong problem-solving and time-management skills. Compensation aligns with market data for remote U.S. drafting roles.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Position to be filled at an appropriate level according to candidate experience.
• Drafter I 0+ years related experience.
• Drafter II 5+ years related experience.
• Experience in CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite of products.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of drafting standards, techniques, and procedures.
• Ability to complete tasks on-time and on budget.
• Foundational understanding of CAD/BIM software AutoCAD, ACADE, and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to collaborate in cross-functional work teams.
• Ability to work with remotely located team members.
• This position requires the ability to pass a post-offer drug test and is subject to random testing.

Responsibilities

• Effectively organize multiple assignments and priorities to produce accurate products on time.
• Collaborate in cross-functional work teams and in a team environment.
• Work in a project team with drafters, engineers, and designers on substation projects.
• Support teams of designers and drafters and supervise project success.
• Perform quality reviews and peer checks as assigned.
• Perform other substation design related assignments as needed.
• Ability to work remotely in a distributed team.
