Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Substation Project Engineer - Lead Professional to support scoping, engineering, and coordination for HV substations from our Amarillo, TX office with a remote work model. This role will also consider Lubbock, TX as a location and may involve travel to client sites.

The candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams, perform high-level design reviews, and ensure project scope and schedules align with client objectives and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 7–10 years of post-education experience as an electrical engineer for power generation, transmission, and distribution projects.
• Engineer-In-Training certification required.
• Experience with electrical infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.

Responsibilities

• Support Substation Project Scoping, Engineering, and scheduling with Project Manager.
• Lead multidisciplined teams for scoping support of medium to high voltage substations.
• Perform high-level design reviews of Substation Physical, P&C, and Civil drawing packages.
• Coordinate project scope/schedule/budget with Project Manager and clients.
• Occasional travel to client offices may be required.
• Coordinate and review electrical infrastructure design plans for smaller projects for data integrity and code compliance.
