Job summary

SGC Engineering is seeking an electrical engineer to design and develop substation concepts based on client specs and project needs. You will perform technical analyses, ensure safe operation, and visit sites to assess conditions and propose improvements.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 2+ years in utilities or consulting, knowledge of high/medium voltage systems, and experience with power systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering; 2+ years in utilities, consulting, or similar fields.
• FE certification preferred.
• Coursework or experience in power systems, electrical design, protection systems, and substations is a plus.
• Additional certifications in substation design or project management are a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Crafting and developing conceptual designs for electrical substations based on client specifications and project needs.
• Performing technical analyses and calculations to ensure systems operate safely and effectively.
• Troubleshooting electrical challenges and implementing solutions to optimize substation performance.
• Ensuring designs meet industry standards, codes, and regulations.
• Visiting project sites to assess existing substation conditions and propose improvements.
• Collaborating with clients to deliver utility project solutions.
• Supporting construction planning and project execution.
• Managing communication with project teams and department leaders to keep projects on track.
