Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Mid-level to Senior Substation Engineer to join our team, with flexibility for remote or hybrid work from a US-based office near Boston. The role focuses on developing and reviewing electrical designs for medium/high voltage substations and coordinating multi-discipline project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience focused on substation engineering for intermediate roles and ten (10) years for senior roles.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD preferred.
• Prior utility consulting experience is a plus.
• Strong client focus and customer service.
• Excellent interpersonal communication with strong English written and oral skills.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, and IEEE standards.
• Ability to work independently and in a team and take ownership.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review efficient electrical design packages for medium/high voltage substations.
• Lead substation physical electrical design including layouts, buswork, grounding grids, and materials.
• Conduct design studies and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Coordinate design activities to meet schedules, budgets, and quality targets.
• Assist in site visits, estimations, and project meetings.
• Provide construction support and respond to site queries during construction.
