Job summary

Atwell, LLC is seeking an experienced Substation Design Engineer for a remote role. You will oversee detailed design, coordinate across disciplines, and drive schedules and budgets for large-scale projects.

The position partners with Directors to forecast workloads and manage project coverage while ensuring compliance with NEI processes and safety standards. The role requires 5+ years in engineering, a Bachelor's in electrical or civil engineering, and an FE license or PE preference.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or civil engineering from an accredited institution.
• 5+ years of engineering or relevant field experience.
• FE is required, PE is preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the detailed physical design and engineering for substations including generating plants and distribution facilities.
• Reviews team work for quality, accuracy, and adherence to NEI/client standards.
• Develops engineering cost estimates, schedules, and change-order support.
• Mentors and coaches staff to enable continuous development.
• Ensures safety, attends trainings, and supports project proposals and client relationships.
