Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer for direct placement. The role is remote with travel 20-25% to project sites, typically 1–3 days on-site.

You will perform preliminary and detailed structural design for substations and energy infrastructure, develop calculations, and produce drawings and documentation. You will coordinate with civil, electrical, and project teams, review drawings, ensure QA/QC, and support field data collection and construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Experience in civil engineering design for infrastructure projects (utility/power/substation).
• Experience developing and reviewing drawings, layouts, calculations, and design packages.
• Ability to communicate design requirements to CAD/design personnel.
• Experience coordinating civil design with other engineering disciplines.
• Understanding of grading, drainage, site development, foundations, and general civil/site design principles.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or comparable software.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam or similar engineering review/collaboration tools.
• Strong QA/QC and construction documentation knowledge.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary and detailed structural engineering design for substation, utility, and power infrastructure projects.
• Perform structural analysis and calculations to ensure safe and reliable performance.
• Design and evaluate equipment support structures, foundations, steel/concrete structures.
• Develop design criteria, specifications, calculations, drawings, and documentation.
• Prepare layouts/markups and provide direction to CAD/design staff.
• Review drawings for quality, accuracy, and constructability.
• Coordinate structural requirements with other teams.
• Support site visits and field data collection.
• Provide engineering support during construction and issue resolution.
• Assist with project estimating and planning.
