Job summary

RMS Energy is seeking an Electrical Drafter to drive technical design projects and support critical energy infrastructure nationwide. This remote role will deliver professional engineering design services for the electrical power industry, focusing on substation layout, protection and control, grounding, cabling, commissioning and energization support.

You will draft using AutoCAD or similar tools, read electrical diagrams, and ensure designs meet relevant codes and spacing requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Minimum 5+ years of power industry experience
Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision
Willingness to travel 15–20% across the continental U.S.
Valid driver’s license
Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment drug tests
English proficiency for safe communication in noisy environments
Experience with AutoCAD or drafting software
Knowledge of codes and standards for electrical clearances at different voltages

Responsibilities

Develop engineering drawings using AutoCAD or similar drafting software
Interpret one-line and three-line diagrams, electrical schematics, equipment and codes
Translate early designs to detailed design with engineering team
Ensure compliance with electrical codes and voltage clearances
Assist during field walkdowns to capture site conditions
Mentor junior designers and conduct team training
