Job summary

Ulteig Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Substation Design Engineer to support Renewables, Utility and Power projects. The role involves developing and reviewing utility substation drawings, including GA, elevations, grounding and schematics to ensure accuracy and adherence to client standards.

The successful candidate will perform design calculations, coordinate design aspects, and may conduct field observations. Travel up to 15% and permanent US work authorization are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; ABET accreditation or equivalent.
• EIT exam passed preferred.
• Minimum 2 years engineering experience.
• Experience with physical design or protection and control of substations required.
• Able to review and produce substation drawings (GA, elevations, cables, grounding, schematics, wiring).
• Ability to perform AC/DC substation studies.
• Ground grid modeling software experience a plus.
• Knowledge of protection and control schemes a plus.
• Knowledge of basic relay settings a plus.
• NEC knowledge a plus.
• NESC knowledge a plus.
• RUS design guide knowledge a plus.
• Experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Openness to innovation and applying evolving tech/AI to improve workflows.
• Travel up to 15%.
• Driver's license preferred.
• Permanent work authorization in the US.

Responsibilities

• Be technically involved in detailed design, calculations, and protection/automation equipment selection.
• Coordinate design aspects of a project and plan, schedule, and communicate work with the team.
