Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Call center experience preferred, but not required.
• Student Loan Knowledge Preferred.
• Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
• Experience entering information into systems.
• Very extensive background check required.

Responsibilities

• Primarily taking inbound calls, counseling borrowers on options they may be eligible for (deferral, forbearance, income-driven plans, standard repayment).
• Explain deferment and forbearance types and eligibility to borrowers.
• Use the system menus to determine remaining months for deferment/forbearance.
• Collect borrower information to determine best guidance.
• Work with borrowers, client representatives, and Federal Student Aid.
• Escalate issues to a supervisor when outside control.
• Maintain professional relationships with customers and teammates.
• Provide service that exceeds borrower and client expectations.
• Document updates in the system and maintain updated contact details.
• Maintain knowledge of company and department policies.
