Happy Chef seeks an experienced bid and contract specialist to manage and grow sales to government agencies and educational institutions. This role covers education, state, local and federal opportunities, including preparing bids, pricing, and contract management behind the business.

You will handle submissions with input on products, pricing, inventory and delivery, aiming for profitable orders and repeat business rather than sheer bid volume.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in public sector sales, bids or contract administration with bid submissions and pricing responsibilities.
• Experience preparing complete responses to bids, RFPs or RFQs for U.S. government or public education institutions.
• Proven success winning or growing public-sector business with tangible examples of awards or repeat orders.
• Ability to interpret specifications and purchasing requirements, prepare multi-item price schedules and flag exceptions.
• Excel skills for formulas, lookups, pricing reconciliation and margin calculations.
• Experience managing concurrent deadlines and maintaining bid records independently.

Responsibilities

• Find and qualify bid opportunities; review eligibility, specs, criteria and terms.
• Prepare and submit bids/quotes with pricing, documents and addenda.
• Develop accurate pricing using costs, discounts, freight and fees; secure approvals as needed.
• Maintain vendor registrations, price lists and contract records.
• Develop new business from quotes and rebids; track items to customer orders.
• Review results to identify lost items and opportunities to improve pricing or product mix.
