Job summary

Everforth Apex is seeking a seasoned Remote Storage Engineer – Architect to lead enterprise storage and cloud architecture across on-prem, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments. The role emphasizes secure, highly available designs with automation and observability integrated into 24x7 operations.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years in IT infra, 5+ years in Azure, and hands-on experience with migrations, Terraform, Kubernetes, and DevOps tooling.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 8+ years in IT infrastructure roles, with at least 5 years focused on Azure cloud engineering.
  • Experience designing and managing secure, highly available cloud environments for enterprise services.
  • Proven experience leading Azure cloud migration and modernization efforts in regulated environments.
  • Experience designing and administering Azure cloud enterprise implementations using resources such as Virtual Machines, Scale sets, and Azure containers or Kubernetes.
  • Strong experience with Azure tools such as Azure DevOps, Repos, Pipelines, and Boards.
  • Experience in IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS cloud hosting architecture and design patterns.

  • Architect and maintain enterprise backup and recovery strategies to protect mission-critical data.
  • Administer and optimize large-scale enterprise storage environments, including performance and capacity management.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, network, security, and cloud teams to integrate storage services end-to-end.

Role Overview

The System Architect - SME (Storage) provides senior technical leadership for enterprise infrastructure architecture and modernization. This role translates mission and functional requirements into scalable, secure technical solutions across on-premises and hybrid/multi-cloud environments. The architect leads cross-functional engineering and operations teams to improve reliability, automation, and service performance, while ensuring designs integrate with 24x7x365 enterprise operations and observability requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and manage enterprise IT systems across server, platform, storage, and cloud domains.

Technical Skills
  • Cloud networking, storage, app services, virtualization, and containerization.
  • DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipeline implementation, and automation.
  • Infrastructure-as-Code at production scale: PowerShell, Bicep, ARM templates, and Terraform.
  • Cloud governance and security in Azure: Azure Policy, RBAC, conditional access, managed identities.
  • Zero-trust security principles and secure cloud configuration practices.
  • Microsoft Entra Identity services.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Experience supporting federal agency IT environments with security and compliance requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift and cloud-native container platform operations.
  • Experience integrating observability and ITSM platforms to improve service reliability.
  • Experience implementing immutable infrastructure and policy-as-code controls.
  • Experience with cloud cost management and FinOps practices.
  • HashiCorp Terraform Associate

Work Environment

This position is designated for telework. Participation in on-call or surge support activities may be required depending on operational needs. Travel may be required as per contract direction.
