Job summary

AES is seeking a Lead Associate, Stakeholder Relations for the Central Region to shape and execute strategic engagement across energy campuses and powered land projects.

The role leads complex engagement for projects in MISO, SPP and ERCOT, building cross-functional partnerships, navigating local policy and economic development, and ensuring community alignment through development and operations phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in community engagement, advocacy, public relations, public affairs, environmental studies, communications, political science, local government or a related field.
• 5+ years of related experience in stakeholder engagement, community or public affairs, or a similar field.
• Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in the energy industry supporting development, permitting, construction or operation of large-load infrastructure projects.
• Experience leading advocacy and engagement with diverse communities of all sizes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement AES-wide and national stakeholder engagement strategies for energy campuses and powered land.
• Conduct stakeholder and community diligence for projects by assessing local sentiment and land use to inform site decisions.
• Lead engagement plans across prospecting, due diligence, permitting, construction and operations.
• Coordinate with customers, development partners and utilities on engagement strategy and siting considerations.
• Engage diverse communities with culturally competent consultation; monitor local political landscapes and regulatory developments.
• Maintain stakeholder lists, records, and engagement reporting; manage budgets for engagement activities.
